MEET THE BAND

DANIELLE – VOCALS
Danielle (aka Dee Pee), was singing before she could talk… The pram, the car and the bathroom became her stage, occasionally with a state of the art hairbrush microphone.
Fast forward a few years and Dee Pee has been singing with Doll Parts band doing her best Courtney Love growl around Sydney while hankering for an opportunity to surf the crowd. These kind of shenanigans are fraught with danger (which is just how she likes it) as she’s clumsy AF and likes to fall off stuff. A self confessed music nerd, she loves a mosh pit, a boogie, and a whiskey and can often be found in your local emergency department after injuring herself.

MACCA – GUITARS
At the tender age of 10 years old, Craig put down his Masters of the Universe dolls, picked up a cheap, knocked around acoustic guitar and started picking out the chords to Crimson and Clover. He hasn’t looked back since. Locking himself away in his bedroom throughout most of his high school years with a Strat copy, a 50w amp and a steady diet of Led Zeppelin, Guns N Roses and AC/DC, he emerged a bona fide teenage ‘shredder’ ready to conquer the world! A cover band here, a garage punk band there, Craig ended up in a pop-punk band called A.K.A in the late 90s that Channel V once described as ‘ philosophical punk pop at its best ‘. Over their two-and-a-half-year existence, A.K.A enjoyed the abundance of live music venues in Sydney that is sadly a faded memory today, playing gig after gig at venues like The Bat & Ball, The Hoptoun & The Northpoint Tavern. A.K.A’s reign culminated in their 2001 debut release entitled ‘The Good Life’, receiving airplay on Triple J and landing on the Foghorn Records compilation ‘Grow Your Own 6’ with their catchy single ‘Femail’. But baggy shorts and fart jokes only go so far and after a few years of mediocrity, A.K.A called it a day.
Fast forward to 2013 and Craig joined a couple of old Uni mates to form The Black T-Shirts. Enter one Phil Remington on Bass! ‘The Tees’, as they were affectionately known, enjoyed many solid gigs, highlighted by a support slot with Oz rock stalwarts Front End Loader. Sadly, The Tees broke up in 2016 during the recording of their debut full length release but still managed to get it out a year later on Spotify! Craig and Phil then hit the reset button, moving forward as The Dead Set. And the rest, as they say… is history!

NATH – DRUMS
No one really knows where Nathan Hopping came from. Some say he was raised by wolves in the depths of a forest in Scandinavia. Others say he was found on a doorstep of the local pub in Penrith. What we do know is… he’s got a full head of hair and can run like the wind blows!
That’s right boys and girls, we have a new drummer. And that means you will very shortly be receiving more of those annoying FB event invites to our gigs. But make sure you come along because your faces will be melted with the drum stylings of… Nathan Hopping!

MICK – BASS
As a 13 year old, Mick picked up a bass and spent way too many nights in his school band supporting a Cold Chisel cover band that made him the biggest Barnsey fan in the world… NOT.
After a few different cover and original bands he played in Sydney metal powerhouse MAJISTER from ’92 to ’97 melting faces at many of Sydney’s iconic venues such as the Kardohma cafe, Springfields and Cobra Club. In the 2000s he played with a Sydney artist Ryan David who went on later to states. Then it was blues time to play with iconic Sydney based front man Mark Easton from the Candy Harlots in a Slide guitar based trio that played many festivals and country pubs. Next up was numerous pub gigs and country shows playing with Dai Pritchard of Rose Tattoo with his partner at the time. 2022 roll on HELLZ for a highly controversial and fun fuelled two years which really showed him the sad state of the Sydney scene…
Influenced by Steve Harris ,GEEZER butler ,John Entwhistle and more recently Johnny Christ, Mick is now ready to pump the life back into that Sydney live music scene on bass for The Dead Set!
